Hit Boy takes the spotlight with his music production

Hit Boy has been in the music production for over a decade. This has led to many collaborations between top-tier artists such as Beyoncé, Justin Timberlake, and Lil Wayne. Yet all these years the spotlight has shone on the singers until now.

Chauncey Hollis, better known as Hit Boy is now a well-established producer. But there was a time when there weren’t any hits. Before ever making beats, Hollis was a passionate writer.

However, that changed at the young age of 16 once he fell in love with the production aspect. Consequently, he bought a computer and taught himself how to use the music program Fl Studio.

His early productions can be traced back to Jennifer Lopez’s “Brave” album (2007). Four years later he signed to record label G.O.O.D. Music. Not long after, he reached stardom once Kanye and Jay-Z hopped on his track “Paris” of their LP, “Watch the Throne.”

In the years to follow, he became reclusive and selective in working with the aforementioned artists as if this was the secret formula to make hits. Ultimately, he learned to open up and experiment. And so he did.

Therefore, he kicked off 2020 with Nas’ “King’s Disease.” And Nas had a lot to prove with his thirteenth project, more than ever. For example, his previous work “Nasir” (2018), an output of Kanye West’s Wyoming sessions, was quite a catastrophe.

From the rushed album rollout to the production, it didn’t resonate with fans. Therefore, for his bounce-back, he recruited help from Hit-Boy.

Before closing the year, he teamed up with rap artist Benny the Butcher, and the result was “Burden of Proof” (2020). From the beats to the lyrical bars, it was a well-executed body of work. But the album to take the gold medal was the project in between, Big Sean’s “Detroit 2.

Congrats to Nas & Hit-Boy for winning “Best Rap Album” at the 63rd Annual Grammy Awards!

Hit-Boy’s record label is called “Hits Since ’87.” He is a 3x Grammy-producer winner.
